You knew him as the quiet, suave, sexy one from the rnb trio Playa..giving u hits in the 90s like “Cheers 2 U” and “Don’t Stop the Music”…he hasn’t stopped the music.. this time he’s going solo… check out the interview below!!
MsThong: For those who think you have disappeared you have been on ur own solo shit.. give us an update on what you been working on?
Smoke: I have, thus far, released an album called Personal, Pain, Pleasure. I have an upcoming album called Sittin On A Goldmine that was supposed to be released in July, but due to me workin on an R&B mixtape, G.No’s album (my new artist), a promising new artist, Forreal’s new album, and my cousin’s record label projects (TOO BIG ENTERTAINMENT)…..amongst other little thangs here and there, it has been pushed back to a TBA situation….lol
I, also, have some albums comin out called, Luscious (full of freak songs) and Bittersweet (story of my relationship, from beginning to end). Those are TBA’s, too.
MsThong: I’m excited too.. can’t wait to hear the first single!! Will there be in collabos on this album? Anyone specific you want to work with in the future?
Smoke: There will be collabos on this album with my artists, my cousin and his artists, Sheba Shane (a local female rapper). In the future, i would like to work with anyone that has talent, in need of a chance. I am for the underdog. No need in doing many records with those who already have theirs. I believe that the Lord blesses you to bless others. That’s just how and who I am.
MsThong: You got some other projects on the side producing for other artists Who should we look out for and can anyone contact you to produce for them?
Smoke: I have some other projects that I have been workin on the side. I have a male artist (Latin/R&B) named G.No from France, possibly, a female artist (R&B/Hip-Hop/Dutch) named Forreal from the Netherlands (legalities still taking place in this situation), and a host of independent artist that want to collab r want me to do a service to them and/or their album. G.No’s album is due out in December.
MsThong: Awww…:) Ur a sweet heart!! For all the Playa Fans out therewill there ever be another Playa album?
Smoke: I know that the Playa fans are wondering will there ever be anutha playa abum. Speaking for me, i am concentrating on creating a political favor. I want to accomplish released written, produced, and arranged compositions, whether it be artist on my label or other artists. Therefore, i will become more of an investment and asset to any project. I am, also, focusing on my solo career. Once I’ve achieved my goals there, then i, speaking for myself, will do another Playa album.
